Maui Tuesday (Day Two)

No one minds eight million pictures of Norah just looking cute, right? Okay, good.

Tuesday morning we were up at the crack of dawn (Maui is 3 hours earlier than California), and so we all got up to take a long walk along the water. We bought a couple of $8 lattes (BVZ says that you have to think of money in Maui as monopoly money or you won't be able to buy anything with a clear conscience. I agreed). Anyway, we borrowed a jogging stroller from the Westin, which was great for the 2.3 minutes that Norah was willing to ride in it.

Nice view, right?

There were these great stone statutes all over the property. Norah loved them all but she was especially obsessed with this particular frog and had to sit on it for like 10 minutes every time we passed it.

After our walk we loaded up the car and headed to 'Baby Beach' which is aptly named by the locals because it is a stretch of beach that is protected from the ocean's crazy waves (by a reef, maybe? I am not sure). I had originally learned of it when I googled 'things to do in Maui with a toddler.' It was pretty secluded and we never would have found it without the help of the concierge. It was an amazing place and totally private. There were only a couple of other families there.

Norah LOVED it (although we couldn't call it Baby Beach-we had to call it Big Girl Beach or she got pissed). She swam, she floated, she played in the sand.

BVZ loved it too.

We spent hours there and then headed back to the Westin for a much needed nap. Now, BVZ and I have been to Maui together now three times. One time was for the wedding of some of our all time favorite people, but we only got to stay about 36 hours (BVZ's job interferes with a lot!). The other time we went to Maui was right after BVZ took the bar and it was non-stop action the entire time. We did waterfall hikes, snorkeling, the road to Hana, rides up a volcano... you name it, we did it. This time? I took a nap every.single.day. For like 2 hours. It was glorious!

After all the napping we wandered around the resort some more.

And then walked up the the Whaler's Village, which is a collection of cute little shops and restaurants. Norah looked cute and ate a giant cheeseburger and an entire bowl of pineapple.

After dinner, Norah begged, begged, BEGGED to go in the ocean. Obviously, that wasn't going to happen, but we did indulge her and let her run on the beach.

She did one of the cutest things on record while walking through the sand. She saw tracks of a bird and started flapping her arms and saying 'Look at me, I am a baby bird. Baaaayyybeeee Bird.' Then she said 'hey there, mama bird! Chase your baby bird!' How could I refuse that?

She runs fast.

It was another perfect day.
