The REAL Buzz Lightyear

On Saturday we got to celebrate S's birthday-one of our very favorite 3 year olds. S was the luckiest 3 year old around because his Toy Story themed party came complete with a TS jumpy house...

And a visit from the REAL Buzz Lightyear. Yes, Norah called him the REAL Buzz. It must be really confusing for little kids. They have their favorite characters and they see them everywhere-on television, on games, on action figures, on bedspreads, etc. It must be hard to figure out who the real one is. Well, according to Norah, the teenager in the dirty costume in a front yard in Santa Clara is the real deal!

When asked if she wanted to say hi to the REAL Buzz, Norah promptly announced, "No. I want to touch him. And hug him. And kiss him." She let S's mom take her up to Buzz and she did all three of those things.

Buzz lead everyone in singing the Happy Birthday song, which was particularly remarkable, considering he couldn't talk (he did however, have a boom-box. Is there such a thing as a boom-box anymore? What are they called now?).

There was a rousing session of present opening. A lot of the kids had no patience watching S open his gifts and instead tried to open the bags and boxes themselves. Of course, this resulted in a lot of time outs and one little girl being banished to the back room. Once again, Norah proved herself to be the genius of the group.....she patiently watched S open each gift and did the obligatory cheer and clap with each one. Then as soon as S would discard the gift and reach for a new one, she would sneak up and have her pick from the discard pile. It was very calculated, and in my opinion, brilliant.

This piano was by far her favorite.

S soon figured out what she was up to, and without saying anything (no fits, no tears), he silently took it back from her and sat on it. HILARIOUS. Norah was a good sport about it.

Norah was into jumping in the jumpy house, but was way more into making her new slinky jump in the jumpy house.

And then whacking the Buzz pinata, of course.

She actually got in a few good whacks.

Thanks for the great party, S!

Adorable. I love the interaction between S and Norah. That's awesome. I'm going to use that tactic with John. I'm going to sit on Eeyore. He keeps making him play dead. I don't like it.
