Much like Christmas, we elected to have a low-key New Years. We actually got out for a couples night out on Thursday (which was awesome), and Norah and I spent Friday morning visiting a friend in the city. I was a little apprehensive that a 30 minute drive, plus 30 minutes trying to find parking, plus walking up a giant hill would mean a potty accident, but nope. She was golden. She told me she had to pee when we were in the car, I asked if she could hold it, she said yes, and she did in fact hold it until we got to my friend's house. She rules.
We got home and she took a late nap while BVZ and I watched our new favorite show, Archer. Less than an hour into her nap we heard her start screaming, 'I NEED TO POOP' and sure enough, I got her up, she went to the bathroom and pooped.
We had a lazy afternoon, a nice walk to get ice cream and hot chocolate, and BVZ made shrimp noodle bowls for dinner. We changed into jammies and tried to have a toast with sparkling apple juice, but Norah was a little rough and the couch ended up getting more sparkling apple juice than she did (she took one sip and declared that it was 'terrible'.)
BVZ tried to tell us that she actually had the right idea because toasting originated in the middle ages and you were supposed to smash your glasses together to spill and mix your drink with the person visiting you to make sure they weren't trying to poison you. His history lesson was lost on Norah because she knew there was peppermint ice cream in the freezer.
We were all in bed by 10:30 pm. Which ended up being a good thing because at 3:00 am we woke up to Norah screaming, 'SOMEBODY COME GET ME! I HAVE TO PEE!' I am not sure what to do about this new development. She wears a pull up at night but refuses to pee in it (which is a good thing). But, she doesn't get out of her bed by herself (again, a good thing). 12 hours is a long time to go without peeing (a bad thing). I am not ready to get up at 3:00 am again (a really, really bad thing).
Caleb and Lucas hosted a fun New Year's Day play date. The kids had a great time playing, eating mac and cheese, and watching Thomas the Train (A was busy in the jumper when this was taken). Fun day and a great start to a new year.
