We live about 5 minutes away from a nature trail in Redwood Shores. BVZ dragged us all out there this morning. It was fun, but hot. It is getting hot here (85+). I know I have nothing really to complain about (Texas), but I don't do hot.
Norah really loved pointing out the colors of the different flowers and spotting butterflies and airplanes (we were close to SFO).
At one point she just plopped herself down in the middle of a flower patch.
As we were wrapping up our hike we saw that we were close to the Redwood Shores library and so we stopped in to get smoothies (there was a sign for the cafe).
Norah alerting us that there was a fountain.
Now, we have a fantabulous library within walking distance of our house. It's new, it has lots of books, it has a play structure outside, it has a story hour.... everything you want in a library. I never felt the need to branch (no pun intended) out.
But, holy schmoly, this library put ours to shame. It is brand new and HUGE and has a children's section that is bigger than our entire branch. There were interactive exhibits on the bay tides and marsh land.
Study rooms, a giant computer lab, and a whole lot of books.
This is just one of about 8 walls of little kid books.
There was a reading room of comfy chairs and couches and bin after bin of board books.
You could even read in a boat.
The cafe had an outside eating space. You can't see but Norah is trying to hug a wooden duck.
We got delicious sandwiches and Norah got a strawberry smoothie and a bagel with lox.
We walked for about an hour and then ended up staying at the library for another 2 hours or so. I haven't been that excited in a long time. I probably shouldn't admit that.
That's awesome. My favorite is the boat. I would really love to read in a boat.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome library. I get excited about things like that too!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun morning. Why is it that the unexpected is always the best! We'll need to check out that library - looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI share your daughter's affection for ducks.
ReplyDeleteThat library sounds awesome - maybe a good playdate place?
